Buñol is awash with red at La Tomatina!

Every summer, on the last Wednesday in August, the most entertaining, the most exciting and, of course, the messiest of all festivals held in the Region of Valencia is finally here. La Tomatina in Buñol is back once again this year, ready to turn all of you who dare take part an intense red.

The celebrations organised for the summer's most exciting and colourful Festival of International Tourist Interest will begin at around 11 a.m. on 25^th August, when thousands of intrepid locals and visitors will be crowding into the Avenida del Cid boulevard and the Plaza de Ramón y Cajal square in Buñol with the sole intention of throwing tomatoes left right and centre.

As well as all those who flock here from every corner of the Region of Valencia and Spain, this unique festival also attracts visitors from countries all around the world, such as Japan, Korea, Belgium, Australia, USA, Canada, Russia, Italy, France and Germany, helping to spread this fun tradition wherever they go.

For over six decades, the residents of Buñol have managed to become the centre of attention through this curious celebration. Visitors flock here from all over the planet ready to release the stress and tension built up over the year by throwing tomatoes at one another.

However, to make sure you have a fun day without incident, you should abide by a few basic rules, such as wearing appropriate footwear and clothes you aren't planning on wearing again, and protecting your eyes with swimming goggles.
